Case Study
Interactive Vector Animation with Lottie
Technical Note
I utilize a streamlined workflow moving from Adobe Illustrator to Lottie Creator. This bypasses the heavy rendering requirements of traditional video software, producing ultra-lightweight JSON files that ensure the website stays fast and SEO-friendly.

The Challenge
Adding motion to a website usually requires a high learning curve and heavy software, which can slow down a project's timeline. The goal was to find a lean, efficient way to turn static brand assets into interactive web animations without the overhead of traditional motion design software.
The Solution: A Lightweight Pipeline
Instead of using traditional video-based workflows, I developed a "Straight-to-Web" pipeline:
Asset Creation: Designed clean, layered vector illustrations in Adobe Illustrator, ensuring all paths were optimized for web rendering.
Motion Conversion: Imported the .svg assets directly into Lottie Creator. This allowed me to animate properties like scale, rotation, and position using a web-native interface that exports directly to JSON.
Technical Advantage: By bypassing After Effects, I eliminated unnecessary "junk code" that often comes with complex plugin exports, resulting in even smaller, cleaner JSON files.
Problem-Solving: Scaling for Performance
The Problem: Many designers create animations that look great but tank the website’s "Lighthouse" performance score.
The Fix: Using the Lottie Creator workflow, I focused on Interactivity. I ensured the animations were designed as small, modular components. For example, the "Rocket" animation was built to be a reusable asset that can be triggered via code on different pages, rather than a hard-coded video file.
Why This Workflow Matters
Speed to Market: This workflow is 2x faster than traditional motion design, allowing for rapid prototyping and iteration.
Developer Friendly: The output is a simple JSON file, making it incredibly easy to hand off to developers or implement myself into WordPress or custom HTML.
Pixel Perfection: Because the source is Illustrator, the animation remains mathematically perfect (vector) regardless of the screen size.
